Bookshare in Depth

This workshop was designed to educate participants on how to use Bookshare resources and tools so that teachers can provide timely access to textbooks and print materials in accessible formats for students with print disabilities. Participants will experience a robust hands-on curriculum, allowing them to gain full use of the many Bookshare tools and services to optimize their effectiveness in the classroom.

Through hands-on labs, participants will learn how to determine student eligibility, register and manage students, conduct a book search, experience the download process, and end with the same reading experience that students have, promoting knowledge on how to use Bookshare in the classroom.  Participants will also learn how to search for and request books, including NIMAC, and develop a lesson plan they can take back to the classroom.

Beyond the Workshop

Bookshare’s support extends beyond the workshop for sustained results. The effectiveness of this workshop will be enhanced through online follow-up coaching scheduled after a workshop.  Coaching will focus on each participant’s progress and implementation of lesson plans.  Bookshare’s goal is to support long-term improved outcomes for students with print disabilities using accessible instructional materials.
